Top bull from New Zealand comes to Boonaroo

BREAKING NEWS:

Selling an all-time record of 143 Angus bulls from the one prefix at the one sale event, the Te Mania Angus Stud at Conway Flats, North Canterbury averaged $7897 for every bull sold at their sale today, grossing a massive $1.128 million before a very large bench of buyers.

Brought out in outstanding order, the top priced bull was lot 5 at $30 000, bought by Bruce Johns of the Kaiwara Angus Stud at Culverden in syndicate with two Australian Studs; Texas Angus of Warialda, NSW and Boonaroo Angus, Casterton Victoria . (Sale brokered by Mclaren Cattle Co Ltd)

He was one of many stud bulls bought at this sale though, with buyers wanting stud sires vigorously operating from both islands.

Not to be outdone many commercial properties were prepared to go to 5 figures to get the bull/s they wanted too, which led to a fantastic atmosphere as bull after bull was knocked down by auctioneer John McCone of PGG Wrightson in rapid time.

This outstanding young sire, Te Mania 09-450 is a son of Te Mania Unlimited, a bull that has had a great impact of recent on the Angus breed both here and in Australia. This sale further strengthens his contribution to the industry.

Exhibiting outstanding EBVs and Indexes 09-450 was the top bull in an outstanding line-up of leading Angus genetics, with many of the catalogue selling in excess of $10,000.

Congratulations to Te Mania on breaking through the million dollar mark – an outstanding achievement and well deserved as they lead the Angus breed to bigger and greater things in the future.
